We are delighted to offer this unique beautiful piano for sale.
This Kirkman was originally made in 1874 and is in an exquisite burl walnut case with fretted front panel and music desk.
The quality of the veneers and the workmanship on the fretwork and carving is superb. We asked Schimmel to put a new Wilhelm Schimmel W123 inside and our own French polisher has beautifully restored the casework.
This Kirkman upright piano had reached the end of it's mechanical life and structurally was beyond repair but the case was too good to scrap. We stored it for some years and then asked the German piano maker Schimmel if they could help. They have very ingeniously been able to incorporate an 88 note piano within the 85-note casework.
The casework is of superb quality both in terms of materials and workmanship. The burl walnut veneers are of the highest quality and have been beautifully book-matched. Our own French polisher has painstakingly restored the casework and hand French Polished to restore the wood to it's original lustrous colours. It is even complete with the original silk behind the fretwork on the front panel!
