Bass isn't something most people associate with Ukuleles, but the growing popularlity of Ukulele orchestras and their requirement for some serious low end has given bass ukes a new niche. Kala's UBass in particular has given the instrument a new level of cool. The low frequency is achieved by using polyurethane strings, which once amplified through a bass amp are profoundly deep. Unless you are just playing at home you will need such an amp, as the volume is not great but adequate for practice.
