Rae, James - 16 Characteristic Studies for Bassoon
Catalogue No: RD036
These studies are intended to familiarise the elementary to intermediate bassoonist with a variety of rhythmic styles.
James Rae is one of Europe's most published composers of educational wind music with over 120 titles to his name including tutors, collections of studies and transcriptions, besides original compositions and his publications are included in wind examination syllabi around the world. In the preface the composer says "The aim of this collection....is to familiarise bassoonists with a variety of rhythmic styles...Each piece is composed in a particular character and is suitably articulated. By working through these studies, bassoonists will develop positive, energetic playing and feel confident when they encounter such musical styles in band and ensemble situations."
