"This work was inspired by and dedicated to the flute virtuoso Ian Clarke. It was premiered by Ian who was accompanied by Tim Carey on July 21st 2007 at the International Flute Course at Woldingham (Surrey, UK). The sonatina was designed to explore the many sound colours of the flute within a tonal and rhythmic context whilst allowing the performer to display their technical prowess and musicianship."
