With commentary by Bernard Braley
This book, published in 1982, contains the texts of 209 hymns and ballads of this well-loved Methodist hymnwriter who died in 2000 and tells many of the stories behind them. The book has proved useful - not only as a book of reference - but as a book of excellent devotional material for the everyday reader. Some may recall Freds "Hymn for the Nation" sung in churches up and down the land on the occasion of the Queens Silver Jubilee - a good choice for the Golden Jubilee in 2002!
It is God who holds the nations in the hollow of his hand:
It is God whose light is shining in the darkness of the land:
It is God who builds his City on the Rock and not the sand:
May the living God be praised!
