Jeffrey Wilson - Wilson Timpani Concerto

The Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra was written for and dedicated to Alan Cumberland and the LPO. Since its conception more and more soloists have felt able to approach the considerable technical challenges of this work in its two piano reduction and in the orchestral version.

It may interest players and listeners that elements of choreography are composed into the score - whilst not explicit dance moves it will be noted that the sticking for the soloist is often mirrored or echoed by other percussionists and points of dynamic drama include flamboyant physical activity from the main protagonists.
