Gibson Les Paul Professional (second hand c1970)

Catalogue No: igGIB-LPProfessional-202px

One of the most unusual models in the late 60s Gibson line up, the Professional was the model that Les designed to deal with all the issues that beset those boring old hat 50s Les Pauls everyone was suddenly playing. The pickups were low impedance so it could plug into a mixing console and a matching low impedance Les Paul amp was offered to go with it. It also had an oversized body, which changes the ergonomics of the Les Paul design if also adding somewhat to the amp, and it came bedecked with a deck of switching options.

Full description of condition below. On consignment so sold as seen.

£3,399.00

The one is in all original condition including the yellow lined late 60s case, although it has considerable playwear. It has been previously re-fretted but the current frets are pretty low with no crown left on them - it's very 70s feeling. It's probably the heaviest guitar we've ever sold, weighing in at over 15lb, so be warned it's a monster!

A Whirlwind Little Imp impedance conver ter is supplied with the guitar so you can use it into a regular amp - the decade control doesn't work very well into a regular amp, but is better into a mixing desk.

Speaking of switching, the main controls are treble roll off, bass roll off, selector switch and phase (puts pickups out of phase in the middle position. The tone selector is in bypass on 2, overrides whatever the pickup selector is set to so both pickups are on in 1 and bypasses the treble and bass controls in 3.
