Sonate Pour Harpe (Sonata for Harp) was written in 1953 for the Spanish harpist Nicanor Zabaleta, and revised in 1957. It is scored in three movements: Allegretto - Lento - Perpetuum Mobile. It is a distinctly 20th century composition, blending together influences as diverse as the Spanish Habanera, American Jazz, and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G.

Germaine Tailleferre (1892 - 1983) was a French composer, perhaps best known for being the only female member of Les Six. Having spent the Second World War in America, she returned to France in 1946 and carried on composing until her death at the age of 91.
