We enjoyed a visit to the Booth Centre this week to donate ten brand new ukuleles to the charitable day centre that supports homeless people in Manchester. Helping homeless people through providing information, advice, opportunities & activities for building skills and confidence, the Booth Centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and was given Champion status by the department of Communities & Local Government in recognition of its pioneering work to reduce the number of rough sleepers in Manchester. Through its 3-year Arts Council funded drama partnership with The Edge arts centre in Chorlton, who have given ukulele workshops for customers at Forsyths, the Booth Centre hopes to create its own sustainable and self-managed theatre company run by The Edge’s representatives, Artistic Director Janine Waters and Musical Director Simon Waters.
