What's blooming at Forsyths

Spring is in the air here in Manchester, and we have a packed couple of months of free music events for you to enjoy!
Launched in March but continuing until 31st May is the piano trail with manchester jazz festival. This is our 4th year of partnering with mjf to bring street pianos to the streets in an around Manchester. This year it's bigger and better than ever with 16 pianos in place!
This years locations are: The Arndale Centre, The Corn Exchange, Forsyth Music Shop, Aviva Studios: Factory International, Grand Arcade (Wigan), Great Northern, Harvey Nichols, Manchester Central Library, Manchester Piccadilly Station, Quayside MediaCityUK (Lowry outlet), Royal Exchange Arcade, Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre (Oldham), Spinningfields, HOME, Trafford Palazzo, and Manchester Victoria Station!

This month we're welcoming back Forsyth regular performer Duncan Honeybourne for a Thomas Pitfield: Piano Music Album Launch on the 11th April.
Duncan Honeybourne, acclaimed internationally for his insightful interpretations of 20th and 21st-century British piano repertoire, will perform selections from this wonderful new album, featuring Pitfield’s vibrant Toccata, heartfelt Little Nocturne, and sparkling Homage to Percy Grainger, amongst others.
This recital also complements our recent publication, "Endless Fascination: The Life and Work of Thomas Pitfield"—a beautifully presented retrospective on Pitfield's extraordinary life as a composer, artist, craftsman, and poet.

Join us on the 24th April for the exceedingly rare opportunity to hear the original version of Shostakovich’s visionary Fourth Symphony with the Manchester-based piano duo Kuba Williams and Ameen Elbadri.
Kuba and Ameen were contemporary students at the University of Manchester where they began their collaboration as a piano duo culminating in a performance of Rzewski’s Cotton Mill Blues and Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring at a lunchtime recital.

We're kicking May off on the 8th with a joint performance by Aaron Le Maistre and Stanley Butcher, playing works for two pianos, and a piano solo.
The programme includes Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos, as well as works by Bach-Busoni, Ginastera, and Rachmaninoff.
Both Aaron and Stanley are students at the Royal Northern College of Music, where they study with Kathryn Stott.

Join us on the 17th May for an evening of Beethoven. Hear his final five piano sonatas, performed by five brilliant young pianists studying under internationally acclaimed pianist Graham Scott at the Royal Northern College of Music.
This unique event offers a rare chance to hear Beethoven’s profound late sonatas in one captivating evening. These works span lyrical introspection, passionate intensity, and groundbreaking musical innovation, culminating in the monumental "Hammerklavier" Sonata (Op. 106).

And last, but certainly not least, we are joined by the James Pearson Trio on the 22nd May with a spellbinding tribute to the legendary Oscar Peterson as part of the manchester jazz festival.
This event is £25, which includes a glass of prosecco or soft drink alternative. Tickets are selling fast, so book now to avoid disappointment!
