Booking has now opened for several brilliant workshops coming up in the next few months:

Tea and Jam: Performance Workshop with Katherine Browning

Saturday 8 December 2018, 11am – 1pm | Entry – £15 for players, £10 for observers | Suitable for players of any instrument at any level

The Tea and Jam Collective brings together amateur and professional musicians – plus those who love hearing live music – for friendly sessions of music-making, with plenty of time to chat over tea! This session will take the form of a workshop with Tea and Jam's founder Katherine Browning (right). If you're preparing a piece on any instrument, at any level, you're welcome to share it with the group and benefit both from the performance practice and from Kat's experience and advice – particularly useful if you're preparing for an exam!

Free Piano Workshop with Melanie Spanswick, Author of Play it again: PIANO

Saturday 26 January 2019, 2pm – 4.30pm | Free entry & open to all | Perfect for teachers, parents & students at any level (except complete beginners)

In this workshop, acclaimed pianist, composer, author and educator Melanie Spanswick will demonstrate the importance of physical flexibility and relaxation, with plenty of exercises, and she will offer tips about how to implement these exercises into a practice routine. She believes that developing a fluent, tension-free technique is crucial when playing the piano. Scales, arpeggios and other technical work will also be included. There will be an opportunity to try these exercises for yourself, as audience participation is encouraged.

Free EPTA Piano Duet & Duo Workshop with Susan Bettaney & Amy Wakefield

Sunday 10 February 2019, 11am - 4pm | Free entry & open to all | Performing places open to pairs of pianists wishing to play either piano duets (four hands, one piano) or duos (two pianos)

The wonderful Susan Bettaney returns to present her latest free workshop for the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA), this time with duet partner Amy Wakefield. This workshop will be for pairs of pianists, playing either piano duets or duos, who would like to gain experience of performing in front of a supportive audience – on a fantastic Schimmel grand piano – and to discuss technical and interpretative matters with two highly approachable experts in their field.
