Bateman, Don - Suite 4 Clarinets

Suite 4 Clarinets is a suite for four Bb clarinets of an intermediate level in three movements. Lightly Latin is a relaxed piece, driven by a rumba rhythm, it covers a good working range of the clarinet and endeavours to provide all four players with something interesting to do. Whirligig is the shortest of the 3 movements. The title derives from the hint of a merry go round inherent in lively waltz time. The Honky-tonk movement is a pastiche of earlier times, reminiscent of American ragtime of the 1920s, and is what can be called "happy music".
