Through the utilization of octatonic melodies and harmonies and formally set as a rondo, “Danza Zingara” evokes the passion and energy of a Romany dance. The angularity and energy of the fiery recurring theme gives the work cohesion, while the contrasting sections are expressive, lyrical and elicit the dreamlike qualities of a dance frenzy induced trance.
