From 1946 until 1968 he was Professor of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music.
NelsonStabat MaterHis orchestral music often includes important parts for the harp, but this Nocturne, composed in 1967, is his first solo work for the instrument. It is a moderately easy piece, but needs skilful pedalling in one or two places.
