Joseph, Jeffrey - Three Episodes

This music was composed in the spring of 2018 and merits little discussion as it is designed simply to entertain. The Prelude makes for a graceful opening and the Elegy (which is an adaptation of song from a group with the improbable title of “Exploring the Amazon”) is tender and rather plangent. Both of these movements are in an A-B-A format. The rather longer and more complex Finale is, on the other hand, monothematic and constitutes a buoyant scherzo-type section. The 3 Episodes are dedicated to Jonathan Rees, an old colleague, friend and fellow-Tottenham Hotspur supporter who promoted and oversaw the publication of my Tuba Sonatina several years ago.  Jeffrey Joseph
