When Vincent Bach began manufacturing instruments in the early 1920s, his experiments resulted in over 70 different trumpet bell models, each numbered according to the ‘mandrel’ or mould it was shaped upon. By the early 1950s, certain standard models had emerged, those we now know as #37, #43 and #72. The model #37 is regarded as the standard all-round bell, suitable for all styles.
The 180S37 features a #37 one-piece hand-hammered professional bell that produces a warm sound with great projection allowing this instrument to work well in multiple musical settings—from jazz to concert or solo playing. The #25 leadpipe allows for slight resistance that is effective in centering tone production. The brilliant silver plated finish adds more projection and resonance to the sound, and these features, combined with a .459" medium-large bore allow the player to produce a well-rounded sound well suited for all types of music.
The lack of lacquer does mean occasional cleaning with a silver cloth is required in order to maintain the finish. However, the added layer of resonant precious metal gives more projection and a wonderful extra dimension to the sound.
