Atkin LG-47 Sunburst Relic Finish Acoustic Guitar
Catalogue No: igATK-LG47
This Atkin is inspired by Gibson's LG series of guitars, and it sounds phenomenal. It is a relic'd guitar, but not to the point of excess; the guitar still shines. There's a big old Gibson thump to this guy, and there's a classic bluesy twang there too. Rather special, all in all.
What we say
Inspired by Gibson's long running LG series of guitars, this bonny little guitar is a great way to get a 40s/50s Gibson sound out of a smaller, more compact frame. It's roughly the same proportions as a classical guitar so far from tiny but the slimmer depth and reduced lower bout makes this design much less bulky feeling than a J45 style guitar. Tonally it's less bassy than a J45 but there's still a strong hint of that focused Gibson thump to the low end, and it also has a quick attack reminiscent of Gibson's earlier small body acoustics - in that sense it's a good compromise between the two distinct styles.
Alister really nails these 40s style sunbursts and the subtle aging effect looks particularly great on these coloured finishes.
What they say
We love these small-bodied wonders! Our LG47 is a lightly built X-braced guitar. The LG sounds incredible for fingerstyle playing, and also has enough size and punch to make it great for flatpicking as well.
Our scalloped bracing system brings out the best in this smaller body, giving a bass tone that is strong and more commanding than you would expect from an instrument of this size.
Many pre-war examples had “baseball” bat sized necks but we add our standard C-shape Atkin neck.
