Manchester Jazz Festival Piano Trail 18 April to 26 May 2024

We're proud to be teaming up with Manchester Jazz Festival for a third year bringing the joy of street pianos to venues far and wide across Manchester for everyone to enjoy. This year there will be 14 pianos across the city including 'new comers' Aviva Studios (home of Factory International) and Trafford Palazzo near the Trafford Centre. Old Favourites include the Yamaha grand pianos at Harvey Nichols and the Corn Exchange as well as the iconic street pianos at Piccadilly and Victoria Stations.

Friday 10 May, 6:30 PM - Piano Recitals by Tristan MacWhirter & Pam Kijoran, Students of Alexandra Dariescu

Forsyth Music Shop is delighted to present an evening dedicated to the art of piano, featuring Tristan MacWhirter and Pam Kijoran, two distinguished students under the mentorship of acclaimed concert pianist Alexandra Dariescu at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). This recital is part of our ongoing commitment to celebrate local talent and the rich musical heritage of Manchester.

Saturday 18th May at 2.20pm - A special event to celebrate the launch of
'Endless Fascination - The Life and Work of Thomas Pitfield, Composer, Artist, Craftsman, Poet

St Elizabeth’s Church, Ashley, near Altrincham 

Thomas Pitfield (1903-1999), though best known as a composer was a truly remarkable man, skilled in many different and surprising fields. To celebrate him, Forsyth is delighted to be a part of the publishing of a lavishly illustrated 500 page hardback book about the man and his achievements.

The book will be launched at a free concert in St Elizabeth’s Church, Ashley, near Altrincham – next to the railway station at 2.30pm on Saturday, May 18th. There will be a buffet in the church afterwards with food provided by Kauri Foods, run by Shelley Jones, and former chef to the New Zealand ambassador in Brussels.

Friday 7 June: Benjamin Frith and Heidi Rolfe - Scheherazade and a Russian Air

We are delighted to welcome back Benjamin Frith and Heidi Rolfe to perform an hour of fantastic piano duets - 4 hands at one piano. This promises to be a spectacular evening of piano music in the wonderfully intimate surroundings of the Forsyth piano showroom. Ben and Heidi have become regulars/favourites here at Forsyth's recital series - and this will be their 4th performance here since our 'post lockdown' recitals started in 2021.
