We celebrated Chinese New Year in style with a Year of the Rabbit window display this year. A collaborative effort with ourselves, Manchester artist Stephen Campbell, and artists from the Puzzle Factory!

 

 

 

The display featured a prepared chiming piano from Stephen Campbell, who had help from his colleagues at the Puzzle Factory, alongside many adorable origami rabbits. We also included a selection of red and gold coloured instruments to bring luck for the New Year.

 

 

 

We have a history of collaboration with both Stephen Campbell and the Puzzle Factory. Stephen and the Puzzle Factory also decorated our current street piano!

 

 

The waveform on the front of the piano represents a specific jazz chord. Stephen has created the paints and varnish used by hand. A truly unique and stunning piano.

The piano was part of the Manchester Jazz Festival 2022 Piano Trail (see #mjfpianotrail on our social medias) - a series of 13 pianos that we had installed across Manchester City Centre for the whole of May 2022.
