Calling all young pianists! We're delighted to be hosting the European Piano Teachers Association's inaugural masterclass day for young performers here at Forsyths. Don't miss the chance to perform a piece of music of your choice on a beautiful Schimmel grand piano in an intimate performance space at Forsyths, and receive coaching and encouragement in a friendly, fun and informal environment. Coaching is provided by concert pianist Susan Bettaney, EPTA UK's Vice Chair and teacher at Chetham's School of Music.

Susan Bettaney

Born in Manchester, Susan won a scholarship aged 16 to the Royal Manchester College of Music studying piano and voice. She performed extensively as solo pianist and accompanist and was a founder member of the William Byrd Singers and a former BBC Northern Singer.

Susan was appointed to Chetham's School of Music Manchester in 1969 and her work as performer and teacher has taken her to many countries including Siberia, Lithuania, Austria, Norway, Belgium. She is an experienced adjudicator, speaker and has worked giving master classes and teaching on the Chetham's International Festival and Summer School for Pianists. Susan has dedicated her life to the development of 'Specialist Music' education, pioneering the way forward in all aspects of musical training of talented young performers. She is currently Vice Chair of EPTA UK and on the executive committee of the European Organisation which encompasses 38 member countries. She particularly enjoys playing the piano duet repertoire and has represented EPTA UK in Cyprus, Rome and Novi Sad, Serbia.
