Highlights from this weeks new guitar arrivals

Apologies for missing a week!

The highlight this week was the arrival of two gorgeous new Brook guitars - a Rosewood Tamar 010 and a Lyn 010 which the lovely folk at Brook have made with a spectacular set of Mahogany with beeswing figure at no extra charge.

Much like buses, having not had a second hand Lowden for ages, a second one arrived just behind the Thomas Leeb we mentioned last time. This one is an F-35 in Walnut and Sitka, almost perfect condition and sounding great.

Equally exciting if somewhat at the other end of the price spectrum was a Peavey Powerslide. For those of you who haven't seen one these are lap steels that are designed to be played standing up, so the body is sculpted to hold the steel at the right position out from your belly. It comes with a harness, gig bag and slide and it costs a mere £199 so we expect to be selling a good few of them. It's not on the website yet but you can hear yours truly messing about professionally demonstrating it here and we have them ready to go if you want to buy one.

More in from Seagull, this time a Concert Hall S6 model with a pickup that we've not had before. We're suddenly selling a lot of these and quite right too - they're lovely guitars for such a low price. Since Seagull are made by the Godin factory in Canada, this seems like a good opportunity to point out the Godin A6 Ultra thinline electro with a lovely looking Koa top that just landed - very sleek.

Do you think it's a bad idea to mess with Texas? In that case, this second hand Mexican Std Fender Strat will suit you down to the ground. If you're happy to mess with Texas, we're sure the sticker will come off but we rather like it. Also second hand, we have a (sadly stickerless) left handed Japanese Jazz Bass awaiting a set up before it goes out for sale - here soon.

More from Guild, a new flamey Maple Starfire IV with stop tailpiece in natural finish. A bit less 60s looking than the regular Starfires but not everyone likes a Bigsby (philistines!) and it has a different feel to the standard Starfires so if you like your 335 style guitar to have a stop bar (philistine!) this might be the one to try. We have lots more with Bigsbys, don't worry.

Finally, need an electric guitar to take on holiday? Pignose could well be the answer! Just one in stock in a rather fetching purple finish.
