Highlights from this weeks new guitar arrivals

Lots of Faith guitars back in stock this week: the lovely Mahogany topped Neptune FNCEMG is back, along with a very pretty Saturn Hi Gloss Dreadnaught that we haven't seen before.

Not technically a guitar, but the Seagull S8 Mandolin has been creating a stir, so I'm sure we can get away with mentioning it in the blog! It follows on from the very successful Merlin dulcimer in that it has been carved from a solid block of wood with a separate soundboard - much as many instruments were made in Medieval times, so good on Seagull for keeping up with modern technology! But it's a good sounding mandolin and it's nice to see something so different to anything else on the market.

Fender have just released a very limited FSR series Teles and Mustangs made in Japan and we were able to claw a couple out of the hands of other dealers: A gorgeous TL62 Bound Tele in Ocean Turquoise Metallic, and a cool MG73 Competition Stripe Mustang in Old Lake Placid Blue (Fender running out of names for colours there). One only of each and it doesn't look like there will be any more in the near future, so you have been warned.

Firmly in the oddball category, we have a new Tonk parlour in from the guys at Nineboys (not that you'd think it was new to look at it, but that's relic finishes for you). These are UK made acoustics employing an ingenious routing procedure for the bracing to allow them to bring in an English made acoustic for £399 - an impressive feat indeed. Effortlessly outstripping it in the 'Darn, that's weird' stakes is a 19th Century double necked harp guitar which has been with us a little while but we haven't had it on the website before, so here it is. It really needs its own blog post so I'll get onto that next week.

Saving the best until last this week, Patrick James Eggle has just sent us a beautiful cutaway parlour guitar made from one of six sets he possesses of Brazilian Rosewood 'to see what we think'. We think Patrick's going to have a very hard time getting it back. One of the best sounding guitars to have graced the shop, which is high praise indeed. Demo to follow just in case you don't want to take my word for it but in the meantime you can see it here.
