Atkin guitar special offers!

We have a few specials to let you know about with some of our Atkin guitar stock. All of these are new guitars, made for us last year and without any issues, but we've had them in the shop a while and we have more guitars in production for us, so we'd like to encourage people to find these ones a good home...

L-1 was £2599 now £2195

A beautiful copy of a late 20s Gibson L-1 in Spruce and Mahogany with a gorgeous dark sunburst finish. The L-1 was the guitar that Robert Johnson was famously photographed with, and blues is what it does best, with a bright, lively tone and lightning quick response. Alister has gone for a modified bracing design for the originals which warms up the bass nicely and makes it a little more versitile than the 20s version (one of the Forsyth staff has an original so we have a good point of comparison!) The nut width is a comfortable 45mm and the neck a modern feeling C profile.

J-35 Custom was £2800 now £2295

A big guitar with a big sound, this one started out as a copy of a Gibson J-35, then Alister decided to throw in a few curveballs, most noticably a 12 fret next join, Kalamazoo style rosette and beautifully figured Amazaque back and sides. Like the L-1, the nut width is 45mm and the profile a C shape. Sounds as full as the large body would suggest, but the Amazaque gives it a crisp edge and adds a nice jangle to chords.

OM-AM was £2100 now £1895

A nice, simple take on the OM body style, all Mahogany with only a delicate abalone rosette for detail. At the discounted price it's a genuinely hand made guitar for £500 more than a factory made Martin equivalent, so it would seem to be something of a bargain! The nut width is a shade over 42mm so it's a comfortable guitar for those with smaller hands.

Jumbo Maple was £2695 now £1950

Alister's take on a J200, with stunning flame Maple back and sides. Iconic though the Gibson model is, we find ourselves rather enjoying the simpler cosmetics, allowing the beauty of the materials to shine through, and the matching Maple binding works perfectly. Good J200s can be hard to find, but we're bowled over with this one! As with the the OM-AM, it has a smallish 42mm nut width - but since guitars this big generally require a big person behind them (ok, Emmylou Harris excepted) we'll recommend this one as an ideal fit for players used to electric guitars.
