 What We Say:

The YDP143 builds on Yamaha’s entry level 142 with improvements made in practically all areas. It improves greatly on polyphony, meaning that it’s able to handle more complex music and a higher level of pianist. The piano you’d naturally want to compare it to is Kawai’s compact digital CL36 - the question you’d have to ask yourself is whether you prefer the sound of the Yamaha CFIIIS Grand sample versus that of the Kawai Grand. It’s a great instrument for the learner as well, as the inbuilt recorder you’ve got a USB out enabling you to connect to a PC for recording purposes.

What They Say:

Improved Pure CF Engine delivers expressive, high resolution recordings of the Yamaha CFIIIS concert grand piano. Damper Resonance digitally recreates acoustic piano depth of tone when pedaling, while newly improved reverbs set the stage for you to replicate the feeling of playing in a variety of different environments. With 192 note polyphony, many of the most complex piano compositions can be played without any dropped notes, and the sustained notes ring through faithfully. The Arius YDP-143 is available in either rosewood or black walnut finishes, and the furniture-style cabinet exceeds all expectations of the typical electric piano, lending a classic piano look to any home.
