Life On Mars? by David Bowie was first released on the Album Hunky Dory in 1971. The single reached number 3 in the UK charts.
The song's surreal lyrics detail a young girl's reaction to the mediaand her struggle with reality. A simple motif is repeated throughout the verse creating a memorable tune, while the chorus features a soaring melody to add emotion to Bowie's strange imagery.
