A completely revised edition of the original Augener publication based on the 1841 Paris version of the renowned song cycle, later adapted by the composer to be sung with Orchestra. The introduction and variants in this piano score enable the singer to rehearse and perform the songs in any other published version. Robin Bowman, who is well known in Europe as a most authoritative coach and accompanist of French song, has provided an excellent literal translation of the songs for English-speaking singers (and conductors).
