Why were our Christmas songs particularly popular in certain eras? When did they originate? How do they relate to each other? Who were their authors and composers, the "songwriters", the singers? What were the social carrier groups of the Christmas song, and what function did it have in the changing phases of social history? An answer to these questions is provided by the "Book of Christmas Carols", in which 151 songs with their melodies are presented in the context of cultural history, whereby Christmas song parodies are also present. An informative book for Christmas music making: - in a comfortable, medium pitch - with chord symbols for guitar accompaniment - easily playable piano or organ sets - 18 instrumental booklets in different keys and moods available - 17 thematically structured choral books for mixed choir available. For hardcover edition there is a melody edition in paperback format (SEM 8213).
