    Ciel ouvert ("Open Sky"), for piano
    Composed in 1993, this piece is the final version of Seul ("Alone"), written in 1990. Ciel ouvert is a work based on various types of energy. The piece describes a harmonic landscape that takes shape little by little and sharpens into focus, later to self-destruct In the high-pitch fixity of a solitary, repeated note. The pianistic and visual aspects are an integral part of the very composition of the work, which expresses itself quite clearly on this point.
    Ciel ouvert is a distant forerunner of the first notebook of Préludes, the continuation of my collaboration with Dominique My. A sort of Prélude to preludes...
