Chant by Ørjan Matre is a 14-minute work for Bass Clarinet and Tenor Trombone. The title refers both to a monotonous and repetitive song, and to the fact that in the last section, the trombone part consists of almost more singing than trombone playing. Commissioned by Oslo Chamber Music Festival it was composed in close collaboration with Rolf Borch (bass clarinet) and Marius Hesby (trombone) who premiered the work on 19 August 2008 in Slottskapellet, Oslo.
