If you love to play, but get stuck trying to figure out how certain tunes work or how to improvise on specific parts of those tunes, this book will really help. Its full of tips and guidance distilled from many years of playing and teaching and comes highly recommended from hundreds of Jazzwise customers!

Intermediate Jazz Improvisation is designed for players looking for a deeper and more complete understanding of chord progressions and tune structures. Part one recommends a series of manageable practice routines to give you a fuller understanding of scale use (from dominant, diminished and chromatic to altered dominant scales). Major and minor cadences, cycles, turnarounds and substitution are also covered. All excercises are written out for all instruments (C, Bb, Eb and bass clef) and can be played over the play along tracks on the accompanying CDs.

In Part two 18 tunes are discussed with full explanations of how to approach them including: Freddie Freeloader, Summertime, Ladybird, Four, On Green Dolphin Street, In a Mellow Tone, Sweet Georgia Brown, Just Friends, Take the A Train, Autumn Leaves, Perdido, Satin Doll, What Is This Thing Called Love, Stella By Starlight, All The Things You Are, Girl From Ipanema.

For intermediate level players.
