Simple and effective lessons in the basics of music theory by musicologist and composer Cuthbert Harris.

£5.95

Covering the most important aspects of basic music theory, this text book comes with accompanying questions at the end of each lesson and a list of the most frequently used music terms. It can be used alongside the accompanying Q&A book 'Elements of Music'.

Composer and musicologist Cuthbert Harris was born in Holloway, London and attended the London Organ School and the London Academy of Music before graduating in music from the University of Durham. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists in July 1889 and was professor of organ and composition at the London Organ School.

His considerable skill and experience of writing for learners is evident throughout the collections of tutors, studies and piano pieces still published by Forsyth today. The books are both lively and imaginative and carefully lead the pupil through every stage necessary to develop a complete technique. He also wrote a fantastic selection of short pieces for piano under the pseudonym Gladys Cumberland, also published by Forsyth.
