Tournament Gallop
Catalogue No: BWP9066
Gottschalk arr. Alan Gout - brass tentet (score and parts)
By: Gottschalk arr. Alan Gout
Scored for 4 trumpets • 1 horn • 4 trombones • 1 tuba
This set includes additional parts for horn in Eb, trombones in treble clef and Eb bass.
19th century pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk was born in New Orleans in 1829. After studying in France and impressing Europe with his flamboyant virtuosity he returned to the Americas. His extravagant and picturesque compositions commemorate his tours of the Caribbean and South America. He died in 1869. Tournament Gallop works well as a sprightly complement to Alan Gouts other Gottschalk arrangements (Souvenir de Porto Rico and Souvenir de Cuba) or as the ideal rumbustious finale or encore to any 10 brass concert.
The 4th trumpet should double flugelhorn if possible and euphonium is preferred to trombone.
