In the preface the composer says "The aim of this collection....is to familiarise bassoonists with a variety of rhythmic styles...Each piece is composed in a particular character and is suitably articulated. By working through these studies, bassoonists will develop positive, energetic playing and feel confident when they encounter such musical styles in band and ensemble situations."
