This budget-price 32 CD box set brings together 12 classic live Royal Opera performances, spanning over forty years, from 1955 to 1997. It includes many of the world’s greatest performers from this period.
These recordings were made between 1949 and 1960, primarily in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra, although a number of items feature the Berlin Philharmonic. A special bonus is the presence of the great Bulgarian bass Boris Christoff in arias by Verdi and Gounod.
In this 11 CD box Karajan conducts the Philharmonia and the Berlin Philharmonic in an Austro-German repertoire and among the pieces are rarely released stereo versions by Brahms and Schubert.
In this 7 CD box set, Karajan captures the Russian repertoire, recorded almost entirely with the Philharmonia.

Abbado has quickly discovered the secret of Haydn's symphonies, charmed by their imagination, their popular themes, their science devoid of severity. An approach made evident by the stylish game and the ideal size of The Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Record Review /...

The Vaughan Williams’ masterpiece in a live recording of the Halle Orchestra and Choir from the stunning 2014 Bridgewater Hall performance. Much of the music is descriptive of the sea, particularly The Waves, but in the other movements the sea becomes a metaphor for a voyage into eternity.
