This work by the composer and organist Naji Hakim, born in Beirut in 1955 and currently living in France, was commissioned on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the Augsburger Religionsfrieden (Religious Peace of Augsburg). Initially composed for tenor and string quartet (ED 9970), the work was arranged by Hakim who created further versions for tenor and string orchestra (study score ED 9969) and for tenor and organ. He included the following quotations referring to peace from the Old and New Testament: First Book of Moses 8:11, Luke 1:79 and John 14:27.
