Launched in January 2011, the Trevor James 'SR' alto has been developed in close co-operation with sax players around the world. Using the hand built professional Signature Custom models as the template, the SR instruments have taken on many of the mechanism and crook features that were previously only available to professional players. The results are very free blowing alto saxophones with rich tonal characteristics.

The SR has rich tonal characteristics with plenty of projection. Professionally designed crook modifications help produce a wide and open sound, and a larger body bore allows for excellent projection. The strengthened crook receiver adds a little more weight for a richer sound.

As well as the body, the keywork has been redesigned with more rounded keys, and dished table keys for a smoother playing action. Professionally designed key arms and top quality Italian leather pads allow for additional venting stability, and metal pad reflectors allow for a dynamic & full bodied tone with crisp attack. Blue needle springs are used on this model as they hold the tension more effectively and so further enhance the key action.
