A style mandolin.

Entry level mandolins are a bit of a minefield but we're big fans of these Stagg M20s - the key is the necks, which have a nicely cut nut and which are straight enough we can set them up with a decent action so they play well for beginners. The sound is a little duller than a more expensive solid wood mandolin, sure, but it's a very cheap mandolin and it's surprisingly resonant for the price. As a first mandolin it's an ideal starting point.
