Although we make a big deal out of the custom options on Gordon Smith - and we do love that aspect of them - sometime you just want a simple, straightforward does what it says on the tin option and, for those of that mindset, the Heritage series are exactly that: A classic Gordon Smith design and spec in a classic colour.
This one's a cedar body which they won't be going forward, availability having dried up of that particular lumber in the UK. It's finished in an attractive satin tobacco burst which reminds us a lot of the days when Gordon Smiths hailed from down the road in Partington, and there's a pair of Gordon SMith's own P90 soapbar pickups in the engine room. We're big fans of these P90s, which are nicely raunchy and powerful without being wound so hotly they can't do clean dynamics.
Looking back to the guitars that started it all in 1974, the GS2 Heritage is a modern recreation of a classic Gordon Smith guitar. These are the guitars that powered Punk, were used and abused by British Rock, thrashed by Grunge and were the cornerstone of Indie. Each guitar is made from a 44m thick single-piece Brazilian Cedar body and single-piece set neck featuring the unique Gordon Smith tone pocket. Every Heritage guitar is hand-built by a team of highly skilled luthiers using individually selected tone woods at our workshop in the heart of England.
