A handmade British guitar with a torrified sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides.
The guitar features a mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and comes with a hardcase.
It's hard to get more classic than a 000 size rosewood guitar! There's pretty much nothing you can't do on them, balancing perfectly the clear, refined fingerstyle friendly tone of smaller guitars with an enhanced headroom that you can push hard without any hint of boxiness. And this example is about as good as it gets, the light build, premium materials (including the artificially aged top designed to sound like a vintage guitar) and loving craftsmanship all adding up to the perfect 000. Alister's uniquely aged finish adds to the mistique and strikes a nice balance of looking old without the obvious artifice of much of the relicing in the electric guitar world.
If you're looking for one great guitar that does it all and does it right, this guitar needs to be in the conversation!
Our OOO-series (pronounced “triple-oh”) guitars are based very closely on the pre-war guitars which are revered by so many players. In the pre-war era there were a lot of spec changes with OOO-series guitars. Rather than give you a full history lesson, we’d like to let you know how we are currently making them at Atkin.
For our standard Atkin OOO37 without a slotted headstock we build as standard to the following specs:
