We don't think it's hyperbole to say the St Vincent is the greatest mainstream guitar design of the last 25 years - it's a real show stopper of a guitar. As fans of Annie's we'd happy to have one in the shop anyway but to think of these guitars as simply a cool looking signature model is to do them a disservice: this is a fantastic piece of design that should appeal to far more players than just fans of the artist. The St Vincent has been promoted as the first guitar designed specifically with female players in mind but to it give it it's due it's a remarkably ergonomic design for either gender, to the extent that if you pick up a Strat immediately after a spell with the St Vincent the Strat suddenly a bit ungainly and awkward.
This Sterling version is intended to provide the St Vincent experience as closely as posible at a much lower price point than the US made Musicman edition. It's surprisingly close in sound to its premium sibling in terms of tone, although the neck is no match for the beautiful silky feel of the Musicman. Still, it does a great job of capturing the spirit of the original at afration of the cost.
