About The Performers:
The Robson Piano Duo made their London Debut in 2005 and have been performing together since. Performances have taken place across the UK and Europe and the duos other musical interests have seen them tour to America, Japan and China. There have been many appearances at national and international festivals in the UK and they have amassed a large repertoire. As well as much of the greatest repertoire written specifically for four hands at one piano, the duo also performs a significant amount of symphonic material arranged for four hands at one piano including the 9 symphonies by Beethoven.
Away from performance, both Kevin and John work in Music Education. Kevin has held positions as Head of Music at Elmhurst Ballet School 2010 to 2014, Director of Music at Edgbaston High School 2014 to 2024. He has recently taken up the position of Subject Leader for Music at Tudor Grange Academy in Solihull. Kevin has worked with some of the world’s leading classical musicians to arrange concert performances in his schools. During his time at Edgbaston High School, he produced a number of large-scale musical productions including Les Miserable, Phantom of the Opera and Miss Saigon. Ensembles and production casts have received critical acclaim from national bodies. Many pupils have gone on to study Music at the top Music Colleges in the UK and have progressed to careers in the country’s top Symphony Orchestras, National and West End Theatres and International performing arts institutions around the world.
John Robson has been Housemaster to the Choristers at Christ Church Cathedral School in Oxford since January 2013. During his time in this role, he has accompanied the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral on many international tours. He has also assisted his pupils with their Music Scholarship applications to many of the country’s leading music schools with great success. He has recently taken the position of Deputy Head (Pastoral) on an interim basis.
John is a keen composer and has gained critical acclaim for his Concerto for Basson. He has been commissioned to write works for music festivals in the UK and written several original compositions for the duo to perform. John has also arranged a number of famous works for one piano, four hands including the Warsaw Concerto (R. Addinsell). For many years, John was an examiner for Trinity College, London where he made multiple trips to India as part of his examination work. He has presented numerous master classes and assisted on adjudication panels for national and international competitions.
