Manchester Vocal Weekend

Chetham's School of Music, Long Millgate, Manchester M3 1SB

Saturday 23 - Sunday 24 February 2019

We are very excited to be involved in the very first Manchester Vocal Weekend – two days of vocal performances and events, led by award-winning baritone and former Chetham's student Marcus Farnsworth with soprano Ruby Hughes and pianist Joseph Middleton:

Marcus founded the "imaginative, beautiful and creative" Southwell Music Festival in 2014, and brings the same spirit of camaraderie, musical passion and exceptional artistry to Manchester in its inaugural year. We're also working closely with Leeds Lieder Festival to bring its most successful elements 'on tour' across the Pennines, from superb performers to powerful participatory projects.

Alongside workshops and masterclasses for both singers and accompanists and recitals by Farnsworth, Hughes and Middleton, a major highlight of the weekend is Come and Sing: Haydn's Nelson Mass, in which participants have the opportunity to rehearse with Farnsworth and singers from the Royal Northern College of Music and then stage an informal public performance.

We are pleased to be offering participating singers a 15% discount on the vocal score selected for this event, the New Novello Choral Edition of the Nelson Mass. Please contact our Sheet Music Department on 0161 834 3281, ext. 204, or via to place your order or to request the online discount code.

We will also be providing an on-site shop of vocal and choral sheet music and recordings, accessories and gifts at which participants will enjoy a 10% discount on their purchases!
