Cittern Press
Cittern Press, nestled on the Thames' banks amidst the scenic Oxfordshire countryside, emerged in 2020 with an exquisite series of printed music books for modern cittern, mandolin, octave mandola, and bouzouki. Their inaugural collection includes the six-volume anthology "Musick’s Delight on the Modern Cittern & Mandolin, Mandolas & Bouzouki &c.," along with standalone volumes that explore specific historical periods and themes. Drawing inspiration from 17th-century music books like those by John Playford, Cittern Press offers a diverse repertoire, from 12th-century French tunes to Mozart's 18th-century compositions, presented chronologically with detailed biographies. This comprehensive range, appealing to enthusiasts of various string instruments, revives historical melodies while catering to the modern popularity of the cittern and its related instruments.
