The Sonatina for Violin and Piano in D minor op.27 was composed in the first years of Fibichs compositional activity and it soon acquired a firm position in the repertory of every young violinist. Fibich composed this piece in Paris in 1869 where he moved after a two-year study at the Leipzig Conservatory in order to continue there with preparations for his artistic career.
