Time magazine once hailed Carousel as the best musical of the 20th century. With an innovative plot and stellar songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein, we are inclined to agree. It opened on April 19, 1945 and ran for 890 performances. It also enjoyed success on Londons West End and was turned into a major motion picture in 1956.
