The Schimmel Colani Pegasus grand piano is an instrument turned sculpture. The Pegasus grand was designed in a colaboration between Professor Luigi Colani and Nikolaus Schimmel. Like most of Colani's work, it is inspired by the natural organic lines of sea creatures. The body of the grand is supported by a transparent sheet of plexiglass and as a result appears to float in midair. The piano stool is integrated into the instrument by the aerofoil loop formed by the graceful downward curve of the body of the instrument. Colani, as he puts it, is "at war with all corners and edges" and this singlemindedness results in many delightful design touches from the slightly curved keyboard and flush keyboard cover -that recedes into the piano - to the main lid of the instrument, featuring the mythical Pegasus creature, which elegantly rises and falls at the touch of a button. Photo's can not do this sculpture/instrument justice and only a few very lucky people will be able to appreciate the full beauty of the Pegasus grand in person as it is produced in extremely limited numbers only to order. Probably the best piano available, of its size, of any maker. The K169 is the smallest member of the Konzert range yet its action is taken directly from the 7 foot K213 grand as well as most of its scaling. The sound produced by this instrument is typical of the Konzert series with a great range of dynamics, superb sustain, beautiful clarity and a large palette of tone colours. The bass is more impressive than any other instrument of this size but naturally not quite as rich and deep sounding as its larger siblings.

The Schimmel K189T Twin tone piano has all the magical musical performance of the standard K189T with the added benefit of a "Silent" system. Usually for silent systems to operate the regulation of the action has to be adjusted to accommodate the increased set off required to allow the action to still set off correctly when the hammer stop rail is engaged. Schimmel have patented a special mechanism that allows the instrument to be regulated just as you would regulate a normal grand when in acoustic mode and yet it still works in silent mode. This means you are not playing a compromised instrument when in normal acoustic mode unlike virtually all other similar instruments. Again, like the uprights the electronics side of things are provided by Yamaha.
