Bechstein was established in 1853 by Carl Bechstein, four years after the death of Frederic Chopin and right in the midst of the romantic period. Both Franz Liszt and Claude Debussy were openly in admiration of the company’s instruments and fans of Bechstein pianos from the recording generation include Wilhelm Furtwangler, Wilhelm Kempff, Wilhelm Backhaus, and Walter Gieseking - all great musicians whose interpretations are marked by a nobility shared with the sound of Bechstein.

Bechstein V in Rosewood

A stunning, fish tailed grand piano by Bechstein, in Rosewood casework with a 100% hand polished shellac finish (extremely time consuming to reach this level of shine), an ornate music desk and turned legs and lyre. The piano has undergone full restoration and has recently also been re-voiced, making it an excellent example of its kind. As with all restored pianos sold at Forsyth this instrument has been given a new lease of life without losing the identifying sound characteristics of an 1890s Bechstein.

Restoration Details:: Fully restored in every detail including new strings, new hammers, recrowned soundboard, new wrest plank. The casework has been stripped and repolished to the highest standard in French Polish.
