As passionate and enthusiastic fans of all things stringed (or strung) we often find our eyes drawn to strange and unusual examples of instruments from the long and exciting history of string instruments. Here you will find viols, pochettes, viola d’amore and other strange and wonderful instruments.
A workshop made treble viol of German origin, dated 1997. Two piece back of attractive figure, golden varnish. Currently set up with Thomastik rope core strings but we can change to gut strings if required.
A workshop made viola d amore of Chinese origin. 14 inch body with carved back, set up with six melody and seven sympathetic strings.
A workshop made pochette or Dancing Masters fiddle of Chinese origin. Golden varnish with a violin shaped body and nicely figured back and sides.
