Hofner
Since 1887 the Höfner company has been making fine stringed and fretted instruments. Since the 50's they have been synonymous with some of the most famous names in music. Today  Höfner continue to build fine quality, hand-crafted hollow-body and bass guitars for new generations of players and collectors. Forsyth's are pleased to be stocking these gorgeous instruments. Visit this nice fan site as well for an independent view of the guitars. All German Hofner guitars and basses come with deluxe hard cases.

Instruments currently in stock:

Jazzica Custom £1975  OFFER PRICE PRICE £1499
Well, this is a marvellous strange guitar and no mistake. A 24 fret jazzer with contoured body to bring the player 'closer to the guitar' apparently. It also comes with ebony bungs to fill the soundholes and reduce problems with feedback. Hofner currently have no production schedule for more of these instruments so come and get yourself a rare old thing from us.

1958 Hofner Senator

Many years ago, when ownership of a Gibson or Fender was as unlikely as putting a man on the moon for aspiring British Buddy Hollies of the day, Hofner were the instruments which came closest to the unobtainable US brands. This fellow is an early example of the venerable Senator, resplendent in a nicely aged honey blonde and still baring its original funky pickup.

Most Hofners develop neck angle problems as the result of the simplistic mortise and tenon neck join: we’re happy to report that this particular guitar is set nicely with a lowish action. Early Hofners lack an adjustable truss-rod but the chunky C profile neck is nice and straight. It’s on its third set of machine-heads and the bridge, although Hofner made, is unlikely to be the one it left the factory with. The maple top, although plywood, is lightly constructed and consequently the guitar sounds excellent, very loud with more bass than many we’ve played.

John Lennon Signature Club

Ah yes, the guitar that started it all... After years of research and numerous prototypes, we finally have our hands on Hofner's painstakingly researched replica of John Lennon's original Club guitar, bought at Hessey's in Liverpool prior to the Beatles' first stint in Hamburg. All period details are correct - Spruce and Maple construction with completely hollow body (modern Clubs have a 335 style centre block), unfathomable Hofner switching circuit, Germanic black- stained elevated neck, and even the tailpiece and machine heads are spot on. Ok, it's not cheap, but there are only 120 instruments available worldwide and only 20 for the UK, so this is a real collector's piece. It's also a beautiful instrument to hear and play - something it might be difficult to argue about John's original! A certificate and Winter hard case are included.
