Rickenbacker 4003 in new ruby finish £1799
At the NAMM show in California in February Rickenbacker announced they were adding a new standard finish to the range. Usually with Rickenbacker, as anyone who has ever sought the model of their dreams in the finish of their choice will know, there can be something of a wait between the announcement of a new model or finish and it actually being available. But not this time. We’ve taken delivery of a 4003 bass in the new ruby finish; and as you can see from the photo, it’s a beauty indeed.
Do you want to be one of the first people to own a Ricky bass in the new finish? Do you want Rickenbacker aficionados to gasp in awe and wonder? Well, it could be so if you snap up this rare and fantastic beast.
RRP is £2119 but you can own it for a piffling £1799 inc. deluxe Rick case and posh leather strap.
We’ve also had delivery of two other, rarer than hen’s dentures, Rickenbacker 4004 basses. A 4004 Cheyenne II in breathtaking fireglo finish and a 4004 Laredo in jetglo. You can see all our Rickenbackers - guitars and basses - here

Ukulele Day during the workshop by Steven Sproat
A big thank you to everyone who came along to our Ukulele Day last Saturday and made it such a rip-roaring success. The workshop with Steven Sproat was amazing and taught us all a few new tricks. There was ukulele maker Steve Caldwell from Weazel Wharf and we now have a couple of his ukuleles in stock. We had our friend Mark from Stones Music who very gamely put together one the wolfelele kits he distributes in the shop window in a personal best time of only 3 hours. We’ve got the kits in stock now and at only £49 they make an ideal Christmas present. He’s also responsible for the impressive range of Uluru ukuleles we have in stock. There was also special ukes brought along for the day by Lani, Lanikai and Kala so we had a fabulous selection for people to try and buy. We still have a fantastic collection and you’re more than welcome to come in and try our wares. It was such a good day, we’re thinking about having another one before too long. Keep your eyes peeled.

Fender Old Growth Redwood Telecaster
The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster, and they’re celebrating its 60th anniversary with very special “Tele-bration” models that stay inside the Telecaster’s famously elegant lines while offering the finest and most unusual takes on the instrument’s past, present and future.
We’ve ordered a few of these very special, very limited edition Telecaster guitars and the first has arrived this week: Fender’s Old-Growth Redwood Telecaster is hewn from reclaimed centuries-old Northern California redwood that has aged into a fantastically strong and resonant tonewood. Salvaged from various buildings and other structures, the wood bears the historical knots, nail holes, bruises and other badges of more than a century of well-seasoned use, giving an individual stamp and unique appeal and character to each guitar. The result is a highly distinctive take on the venerable Telecaster.
Looks amazing, sounds amazing, plays beautifully! Yours for £1599 including vintage style hard case.

Acoustic 53 cover star - now in stock!
Anyone picking up this month’s copy of Acoustic (Issue 53) will no doubt have had their attention drawn towards the strikingly beautiful guitar taking pride of place on the cover. Acoustic is the UK’s only dedicated acoustic guitar magazine and as such they’ve seen it all but this guitar impressed them. A lot.
The guitar in question is a Patrick James Eggle Saluda with Oregon myrtlewood back and sides and an Italian bearclaw spruce top. Finished with falling leaf rosette and fingerboard inlays and with a factory installed AER AK15+ pickup. The review describes the guitar as “truly impressive” and that it has “very high standards of workmanship, great sounds which transfer to stage use seamlessly.”
And that guitar is now here at Forsyths for your delectation and delight. We have a good selection of Patrick’s wonderful instruments in stock and after this instrument returned from its triumphant visit to Acoustic he gave us a call to see if we wanted it.
The guitar has now sold but you could get Patrick to make you the guitar of your dreams or visit our Patrick James Eggle page for more pictures and to peruse our range of these fine guitars.
